Manitoba RCMP have arrested a male from Garden Hill First Nation in connection with the murder of 11-year-old Teresa Robinson.
Robinson’s body was discovered on Garden Hill First Nation on May 11, 2015. Her remains had been disturbed by animals, but RCMP concluded animals were not involved in her death.
She was last seen leaving a birthday party on May 5. RCMP were notified on May 8 that she was missing and a search party of over 700 volunteers recovered her body a few days later.
In February 2016, RCMP asked men between ages 15 and 60 in the community to voluntarily donate DNA samples.
“While we understand that this arrest will generate a lot of questions, we are not in a position to provide further information at this time as there are a number of investigative steps currently being undertaken. ” said Sgt. Bert Paquet of the Manitoba RCMP.
More information will be released on Friday.
