MORDEN, MB. — An 18-year-old Roland, Manitoba man faces charges for drunk driving without insurance.
Morden police noticed a vehicle pull over to pick up pedestrians on Mountain Street around 2:00am Saturday.
They ran the plate and it came back inactive, so they followed it northbound on Mountain Street.
The vehicle turned onto Wardrop Street and fled at a high speed, so police activated their emergency lights.
It continued fleeing the cruiser, blowing through two stop signs before hitting a dead end in a bay.
When police got up to the vehicle, they could smell a strong odor of alcohol.
The driver also told them he didn’t have a driver’s license.
Police asked him to exit the vehicle, but he had trouble and ended up falling back into his seat.
He’s now facing a slew of charges, including Drive Impaired, Drive over .08, Drive while Disqualified and Drive Motor Vehicle without Liability Insurance.
The suspect was released on a promise to appear in court in May.
