WINNIPEG, MB. –  Macdonald Youth Services of Winnipeg received a $25,000 Orange Door Award grant from The Home Depot Canada Foundation. This will support its successful work placement program, which helps youth develop skills and confidence in the workplace.

“We’re excited and grateful to receive the Orange Door Award. We’re looking forward to putting the funds to work in support of better futures for young people in Winnipeg,” said Dr. Erma Chapman, CEO, Macdonald Youth Services.

Youth advisors play a central role in selecting the Orange Door Award winners each year. The advisors draw on their own lived experience to evaluate the applications, ensuring that each $25,000 grant goes where it will make the biggest impact in building brighter futures for youth.

Macdonald Youth Services is one of eight organizations across Canada receiving a 2017 Orange Door Award grant from The Home Depot Canada Foundation.

“We’re committed to preventing and ending youth homelessness in Canada,” said Jeff Kinnaird, chair, the board of directors, The Home Depot Canada Foundation and president, The Home Depot Canada. “Over the past three years we’ve supported the work of more than 300 non-profit organizations, giving them the chance to help more youth in need.”
