Seven In Winnipeg Face Weapons Charges

WINNIPEG, MB. — Seven people are facing charges after weapons were discovered during a traffic stop in Winnipeg.

It happened around 1:10am Saturday morning at the Woodhaven Park Community Club in the 200-block of Glendale Boulevard.

Police were told there were 100 minors in the parking lot and one had been spotted with a shotgun.

An SUV linked to the scene carrying was stopped a short time later on the St. James Bridge.

A search of the vehicle netted a prohibited shotgun, two pellet guns, and two cans of pepper spray.

Police arrested all seven occupants including three boys, a girl, and three men.

They are charged with various offences, such as Point Firearm, Possess Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Possess Weapon, Possess Unauthorized Firearm, and Careless Use of Firearm.

The men are Charles Kaniki, 18, Keanu Oliveira, 19, and Abdullahi Mohamed, 28.

All seven suspects remain behind bars. No injuries were reported.
