Police searching for suspect in Christmas Day assault

On Christmas Day, December 25, a 23-year-old male was assaulted, sustaining serious upper body injuries, and was transported to hospital. Winnipeg Police Services issued a release, today, December 29 and said the victim remains in stable, but guarded condition.

The assault happened Friday evening at roughly 6:00 p.m. in the area of Ellice Ave. and Maryland St. The Winnipeg Police General Patrol unit responded to reports of the incident.

Police are investigating a suspect in the incident who described as male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 6′ tall, thin build, short black hear and wearing all black clothing and red and black coloured high-top runners.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in this incident. The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident, or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6668 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
