The Winnipeg Police Service is seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly stole a poppy donation box before Remembrance Day.
On Nov. 4 at about 10:25 a.m., the suspect entered a store in the 700 block of St. Anne’s Road and immediately went to the customer service counter. When staff members asked if he needed help, he indicated that he did not. Then he grabbed the poppy donation box and hid it under his jacket as he left the store.
Staff tried to follow the man, but they weren’t able to catch up with him.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male between 20 and 30 years old. He is five-foot-eight with a medium build and short light brown hair. He was wearing a black winter jacket, black pants, black shoes and a Jets scarf.
The East District Crime Unit is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 204-986-2857 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
